At Desert Chapel Christian School, we believe that athletics is an integral part of education, and a Christ-centered athletic program is vital to our educational process. Therefore, we strive to honor the Lord in all we do, to “run in such a way that we may receive the prize.” We are trying to instill values such as integrity, teamwork, and perseverance in our athletes. We strive to get every student involved in athletics; teaching sports fundamentals in a structured environment to encourage success. Desert Chapel Middle & High School competes in the California Interscholastic Federal Southern Section.

AJ SMITH BRINGS DC INTO THE FUTURE

A.J. Smith will join the DC Eagles staff as a consultant for the fall '24 season.  Smith is currently the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas Offensive Coordinator, and is noted as

one of the most innovative minds in spring football.  He went from being the youngest offensive coordinator in Louisiana High School history at age 21, to coordinating the the 2023 Houston Roughnecks offense (of the XFL) to the 3rd-most PPG (24.7) despite injury issues at QB.  He's now with the Brahmas — under head coach and NFL's LA Rams Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips — in a newly formed league (the UFL).

A.J. started his coaching career at 19 years old. A former graduate assistant at SMU, Smith grew up as a disciple of the Run N Shoot, a pass-happy, post-snap read offense that was popularized in the 80s and early 90s. The head coach at SMU at the time was former NFL coach June Jones.

Smith is a young, talented coach who has a proven track record of success and the blueprint for the modern passing offense. The Run N Shoot is like Latin and the modern passing offense is like European languages, ie. they all stem from the "root language." Smith is a reverse engineer who seems able to dissect every offensive concept with ease.

According to Brock Vierra with Rams Wire, "Smith will be in the NFL sooner rather than later and perhaps a call to their old friend Wade Phillips is the perfect way to preemptively hire a future star."

Desert Chapel is honored and blessed to have Mr. Smith on our sidelines!
